Story
De Rookerij is a former fish smokehouse and municipal monument. After a fire in 1943, the complex was rebuilt in 1945 and, in 2016, carefully transformed into a generous loft home. Did you know De Rookerij is often cited as the last remaining Huizen smokehouse—while the village once had around eighteen? The building therefore holds special architectural and cultural-historical significance as a tangible reminder of the smokehouse tradition.
