Description
This church is the former St. Nicholas Church, a neo-Gothic Roman Catholic church consecrated in 1871. After closure in 1970, it suffered subsidence but received foundation repairs in 2007 and has since been sensitively adapted into a generous loft-style home—retaining the nave volume and organ gallery. The building is listed as a municipal monument. Did you know? After the Noordoostpolder was drained, lowered groundwater caused differential settlement that left the former St. Nicolaas Church visibly leaning to one side—later stabilised by foundation repairs in 2007.
